Footprints and shoe size
The Big Bumbles have been exploring size through their footprints and shoe size. The children worked in pairs to draw around each other’s feet on large paper using gross motor movements to complete this task. Once the print was complete, each pair had to investigate both their shoe sizes by looking in and around their shoe. They managed to find the numbers underneath and inside the tag. They then wrote the number and their name inside the print on the paper. The children had some great number formations. Once all the shoe prints were drawn and sizes recorded down, we all looked at the similarities and differences of the shoe sizes to determine who’s was bigger/smaller/and who had the same size. The children all produced good mathematical language of size and number throughout the activity.
