‘Squiggle while you Wiggle’
This week the Honeys have enjoyed joining in with ‘Squiggle while you Wiggle’. The children have been holding pens in a grip comfortable to them to draw large circles and lines to music. Large scale movements allow the brain to form neural pathways for the shapes of letters before fine motor skills are sufficiently developed to form letters in the standard way. ‘Squiggle while you Wiggle’ utilises dance moves and mark-making in messy media to prepare children for later letter formation. The Honey children really enjoyed this activity and demonstrated a great ability to hold conversations between themselves throughout too.
