Enabling Environments

As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum we follow within nursery, we are required to ensure that children are provided with a strong environment which helps to promote their development as well as providing a wide range of learning opportunities.

Children learn and develop best when in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs. By providing such environments, coupled with stimulating resources relevant to all the children’s cultures, communities and interests, this helps to ensure rich learning opportunities through play are provided.

We have recently enhanced our Ladybird Room ready for the Summer Term, introducing a wider selection of heuristic items to encourage exploration, a collection of coloured resources to provide sensory opportunities & we have

introduced small-world areas including ‘The Farm’ & ‘Vehicles’ to further develop children’s understanding of the world.
