Handas Suprise Comes To Life
In the Little Bumbles this week we have been continuing our exploration of the story ‘Handas Surprise’ and extending the children’s experiences by adding the real fruit from the book to a group activity. The children read the story and on each page, when an animal took a piece of fruit, they matched the real fruit and peeled it themselves or cut it open to investigate. The children enjoyed guessing what colour the fruit would be inside, they smelled the fruit, felt the different textures and described what they could see. This created opportunities for lots of describing language such as slimy, juicy, sweet, spikey, soft, cold, squidgy, yucky, and sticky. Discussions continued between the children about what fruit they ate at home and what was their favourite.
